Lining your gas pipes with epoxy will help seal the leaks. Once applied, let the epoxy hold and cure for approximately one hour. The reason you are using epoxy to seal the leaks is to avoid replacing the whole system. However, if you can replace the leaking pipe with a new one, do so to avoid future leaks.
Use a rubber sealant to ensure that the water pathway is airtight. It is common to have a broken seal along your pipes which will in turn cause leaks. Usually, when dealing with plastic pipes, you will need to use some rubber sealant on certain connections, but you may not need much if you are using a metal pipe.
If the pipe that protrudes from the wall is copper with a threaded fitting (Photo B), simply cut off the fitting with a tubing cutter ($10) and install a new slip-on spout (Photo A). If the pipe coming out of the wall is steel (Photo C), you need a new screw-on spout. Ideally, the new spout will fit perfectly onto the old pipe.
Seal a leaking frame by running a small bead of tub and caulk around the inside of the frame. Force the caulk into any gaps between the frame and the shower surround. Quickly wipe away all the excess caulk. When the caulk dries, test for leaks again. Replace any worn gaskets or door sweeps.Step 1: Turn off all water-using devices in your home. Step 2: Record the number on your water meter. Step 3: Wait at least 3 hours, then check the number on your water meter. If it has increased, your pipes are leaking somewhere. If it hasn’t, the water is probably coming from a leak in your roof.
